Video Games Vs Movies, The End Of The Sliver Screen?
Video games vs movies? Has the video game industry taken a big part of the movie industry? You bet it has. Hollywood is facing more and more competition as video games become more and more like movies. Have we seen the last of the the sliver screens days?
Is this the end of Hollywood? If you has to choose what would it be? Video games vs movies? Video games like Call Of Duty Modern Warfare make you feel like a movie hero in a movie world of adventure, and this is great fun. You become immersed in the Video game story, and you control it. Its hard for me to not get sucked into the feeling of power and excitement that a video game gives me?
Since good games offers a player hundreds of hours of potential game play the movie industry can not get these people into the theaters.
Is all hope lost for the movies? No. Look at is this way: when movies came out back in the day, people actually thought that would be the end of reading. When TV came out people thought that would be the end of movies. So again when video games began that was supposed to spell the end of TV. Video games have been around since the 70ties.
No, the world never came to an end. why is this? The more people have the more people want, that’s how simple it is. That’s why Mall developers try and cram in as many stores as possible, and if another mall opens in the same area, that’s great! More stores means more costumers.
Video games vs movies, is this comparison possible? Not really. They are two different things. Video games are active, movies are more passive.
They both offer different experiences, for different times of day and moods. I don’t like being active all of the time. Through hand eye coordination high performance gaming is becoming a sport. Sometimes I want to passively sit back and be entertained, this is the role of a movie, sometimes I want to romantically watch a movie with my wife. Sometimes I want to be the best I can be, a hero, that is what a video game gives me.
The problem with Hollywood is getting people into the cinema, and the way they do it is either creating gimmicks like real 3D, or combining the film concept with a video game release. I think the real trouble is in the cinema itself. With VOD fewer and fewer people frequent the theaters. One of the best movie style video games of all time is Call Of Duty Modern Warfare 2
