Interesting Information on Tribal Men’s Jewelry Box and Jewelry
In order to show off their influence and power, tribesmen wear jewelry and accessories and not just to look good. Men are as heavily adorned as women in their tribes. A men’s jewelry box sure comes in handy when considering the number of ornaments they own. The use of jewelry was regarded as a symbol of power because during those times it was particularly difficult to get those precious metals and gems.
They wear their jewelry as a badge when they visit other tribes and it also acts as an identification. Tribes in Egypt use jewelry to express their religious beliefs within their own circle. It’s also common to adorn their dead family members with expensive ornaments. Early pieces of jewelry made from Egypt are usually of gold, glass, and precious stones and they symbolize important life events and experiences.
African tribes are similar to Egyptians because they are also seen wearing the same intricate ornaments to display their beliefs. Some of the jewelry pieces they wear are used in order to protect them against evil spirits or give them abundant produce and good luck. In the Dogon Tribe of Mali, jewelry is worn to identify a man’s tribe and his position in this tribe.
In the Americas, the use of jewelry can be seen among Native American Indian tribes. The designs of jewelry vary in order to show the people which tribe they belong to. The use of jewelry is deeply rooted in their tribe’s culture and traditions.
How they use their jewelry and ornaments reflect the way they live in their tribes. The way Native American Indians accessorize is very intricate and use various materials like gold, turquoise, and steel. Some of the most common pieces used by these tribes include necklaces, earrings, and brooches.
During those times, men’s jewelry boxes were made from materials in abundance in their respective locations. Jewelry boxes are used in order to protect their jewelry from enemies and to prevent exposing them to the elements. In Africa, their materials of choice include gold, silver and ivory while in Asia they prefer wood, china, and silk.
These intricately carved and ornamented boxes are called “jewelry chests” or “treasure chests”. It was customary to bury Egyptian pharaohs with their fine jewelry packed in treasure chests. Today, however, the use of jewelry boxes have evolved into accessory or valet boxes and they’re being used to store not just jewelry but men’s electronic gadgets as well.
Some of these modern valets even come with electrical charging ports for laptops, mobile phones, iPods, etc. The use of jewelry and jewelry boxes by men has evolved with time. But you’ll still find tribal men all over the world brandishing their ornaments. And interestingly enough, the modern male is not really far behind!
